This years event will take place on Tuesday 22nd June (first round) with the finals night being held here at the Jolly Brewer on Tuesday 29th June.
The 2009 Jolly Brewer World Pushpenny Championships took place over Stamford festival week. The knockout competition began on Tuesday evening with venues being held at The Jolly Brewer, Hit or Miss, St. Mary’s Vaults, The Hurdler & Blackstones Club. The finalists lined up at The Jolly Brewer on Friday evening to battle it out for the top spot. Some of the “usual suspects” were absent from the finals night this year after being knocked out in the earlier stages by the likes of league newcomer Adam Chapman of the Hit or Miss, and Jolly Brewer customer Shaun Heath who (having only played a handful of games before) claimed several scalps before coming a cropper in the semi final. The final saw Phil Bell of the Lord Burghley take on Derek Robinson of Blackstones Club. After a close start, Phil Bell came out on top with a 2-0 victory securing him a £100 cash prize and the title of Jolly Brewer World Pushpenny Champion 2009.
